No Sew T-Shirt Tote Bag

Raise your hand if you have a couple (okay, maybe more than a couple) of old t-shirts that you don't wear but they are too cute and too sentimental to get rid of. Insert me raising my hand. With spring cleaning, right around the corner, I have the perfect way to keep those t-shirts in your life but get them out of your drawers. We all know that is very valuable real estate.

All you need to get started is a pair of scissors sharp enough to cut through fabric and some t-shirts...that's it. OMG I am so excited to share this with you! I literally couldn't stop making them. They are fantastic for the grocery store, easy to wash and super comfortable to carry - no more plastic bags in this house.

Step 1: Cut the sleeves off

You could also fold the t-shirt in half in order to cut both sleeves at once so that they are identical. Or, if your t-shirt material is too thick to cut them both at the same time, you can cut one, then fold it in half and use the cut side as a guide for the next sleeve.

Step 2: Cut the neckline

Turn the shirt inside out and trace the outline of a bowl before cutting.

Step 3: Decide how deep you want your bag to be

Determine where you want the bottom of the bag to be and trace a line across. Keep in mind that depending on the fabric used, your tote is likely stretch and become longer when it’s filled with stuff.

Step 4: Tie a knot

While the tee shirt is still inside out. bunch the bottom of the shirt together. Using the scrap piece that you cut from the bottom, tie a tight knot or two around the bunched material. Now flip your shirt right side out and ta daa. You have an awesome, unique, recycled tote bag / beach bag / Grocery bag / whatever you want bag!

Full disclosure - this is first YouTube video / vlogg I have ever done. I am definitely still getting the hang of it so I hope that it is helpful and easy to follow. If you have any feedback or suggestions, PLEASE share them with me!

XO
